Joint Statement: 68 Human and Women’s Rights Organizations Urge the International Community to Pressure Iran to Revoke the Death Sentence for Jailed Women’s Rights Activist
We urgently call on the international community, governments, institutions, and women’s rights organizations to take immediate action to stop the execution of courageous humanitarian worker and women’s rights activist, Pakhshan Azizi, whose death sentence has been upheld by the Supreme Court in Iran. Her execution could be carried out at any moment.
Pakhshan Azizi has dedicated her life to advocating for vulnerable women and promoting equality in her community. Her execution would not only represent an irreversible act of injustice but would also silence a vital voice for change and progress.
The use of the death penalty against human rights and women’s rights activists is a stain on humanity as a whole. We, therefore, urge you to stand in solidarity with Pakhshan Azizi and her family, and to demand the immediate revocation of her death sentence.
Time is critical. Let us stand together to prevent this tragedy and reaffirm the fundamental value of human life.
